In the past, I was victimized by phone dating/chatline. I met a woman through one and we had a phone relationship for 7 months. But I never met her and I was sending her $$$ through Western Union to aid her with bills and provide for her 7 kids ranging from 23-6 yrs. of age. This was by far the DUMBEST mistake I’ve ever made and I will sure as hell never make this mistake again. She said that we were going to meet up on several occasions, but it never happened. One time, she spied on me at my job, having me thinking that she was going to come visit me at my job. She to;;d ,e that she went there, but did not want me to see her. She claimed that she wanted to do it HER way just to make sure I was the "right man" for her. I was UPSET. Common sense should’ve told me right then to cut ties with her. I expressed my anger to her about this and she replied, "You’ll be alright". I was afraid of losing her because I was lonely and I needed a lady in my life which was why I sent her some of my $$$. One day, I had the courage to stand up to her and say NO when she ask for $$$ to feed her kids. She hung up the phone and we didn’t speak for awhile. At the end, she wanted me to meet her downtown on a chilly Friday night. I thought, this is an opportuntiy to FINALLY meet her after all that time. I agree, but 5 minutes later, I called her back and decided not to meet her. Who knows what her intentions may have been? I learned a HUGE lesson from this adn I am moving on. Just last month, a middle aged man met a woman through the phone dating chat line, and they chatted on the phone for awhile before agreeing to meet up face to face. One night, he met the woman at her apartment complex and the chatted for awhile. There was a suspicious man walking around her yard. The man asked, "Who is he?". She said, "That’s a security guard". After chatting, the woman walked back to her apartment and as the man returned to her van, the "security guard" walk up to him and shot him in the arm. When I read this article, I was thanking God all night that it was not me in my situation. From that point on, I made a vow NEVER to get on the phone or online dating chat service and find a TRUE woman at a church, bookstore or library. I hope I didn’t bore you with this. I was just giving an example of the dangers of this situation. I like to hear your opinion on this topic. Please feel free to respond and thank you for reading. May God Bless and have a wonderful day
